Our History

Defy Nutrition started in Clarksville, Tennessee as Busy Babes Nutrition. We got a new look and feel in August 2021! Why, you ask? We didn’t want to continue the culture of overglorifying being busy. We understand that life is busy — but that doesn’t mean we need to put ourselves on the backburner. Plus, we serve both men and women. We also wanted to take a stand against diet culture, and thus was born our slogan: Defy the diet rules, defy yesterday’s you.

At this time, we started offering more nutrition workshops in the community. We want to help businesses bring more value to their members through these workshops so that they can promote an environment of health. Members could be their clients or their employees, but we like to use the word members because it suggests a family-feel!

At the beginning of March 2022, Defy Nutrition relocated to Colorado Springs and is now seeing clients virtually in several states, including Colorado, Tennessee, Kentucky, Utah, Florida, Massachusetts, Arizona, South Carolina, Michigan, Alaska, and California. Mary-Catherine is also credentialed with TriWest and sees clients as an out-of-network provider.

Our Philosophy

We’re not just about breaking rules; we are about defying the norm. Diet culture has us all caught up in “do’s” and “don’ts” without recognizing that we are all individuals. Here at Defy Nutrition, we take a tailored approach to your health and nutrition. We consider ourselves wellness dietitians who help you create sustainable habits that bridge the gap between where you are and who you want to be.

This was absolutely the best decision I have made for me. The meetings are very friendly and conversational, while still being filled with so much information. All of the information was explained in a way that I understood, without feeling like I was being talked down to. I really appreciate that everything was done in steps instead of all at once. The areas of focus were custom to me and my needs, and never felt like I was being pressured to do something I wasn't ready for. It no longer feels like something I HAVE to do, it's something I WANT to do and actually look forward to.
I can't thank you enough for everything you've taught me!

Who We Serve

Defy Nutrition proudly serves both individuals and organizations across the US. Our ideal client is someone who is ready to elevate their health through better nutrition but is tired of yo-yo dietiting and wants to commit to changes that work.

Within the local Colorado Springs area, we are privileged to work with individuals who are stationed at Fort Carson, Peterson SFB, Schriever SFB, Cheyenne Mt. SFS, and the Air Force Academy.

Mary-Catherine is a co-facilitator of Colorado Springs’ only Women’s Resilience for Fertility Support Group. Together with her partner, Chief Resilience Officer Lisa Sinnott, Mary-Catherine cohosts a Women’s Fertility Support Group at Library 21C from 6-7 pm on the first Thursday of the month.
